Browsing on Facebook, a friend of mine found this casually displayed in his News Feed. Not surprisingly, there is a phenomenon on the website of people dressing up as minstrels to the point that some even call it blackfacebook.
The guy in blackface went all out, he even painted his chest and hands. Brought the malt liquor too. I wonder who he's suppose to be dressed as anyway? Ironically he's being embraced by a guy dressed as Uncle Sam.
More and more I'm seeing minstrelsy reappearing. Many are saying that because we're past Jim Crow, this is longer offensive. Yeah. Right. I guarantee a lot of these frat boys dressing in blackface will update the "I'm not racist, I have a black friend" defense and start saying, "I'm not racist, I voted for Obama."

I WOULD NEVER VOTE FOR OBAMA! You have to be kidding.
Come on buddy, its a funny picture and all the Asians at the party loved it.
and to think people r dumb enough to put this online in public. good post. keep exposing this
Shameful.
This photo was not posted to the public if it was it was an accident. please delete this blog. Sorry if anyone thinks this is offensive. It is someone who was Samuel L. Jackson for Halloween and someone dressed as Uncle Sam. If you think that is ironic so be it. I think it is shameful you would post something like this and then make assumptions when you dont even know the people or anything.
To 4th anonymous:
So how'd they get the photo if it wasn't public, steal if from someone's cpu?
He was dressed as Samuel L. Jackson, muthaphucka please, he don't look nothing like Samuel L. Jackson! Dude got busted being a racist and someone wanna cry over it. If anyone should be embarassed it's dude dressed like that, don't want to get called out don't be a racist...
Nothing like jumping to unfounded conclusions. So the theory of this blog is that Andrew Dremac is a racist because he's smiling in a picture with someone who painted himself black? Not only is that irresponsible (and legally libelous), but it's idiotic dribble incapable of starting a productive conversation. Whether a rise in "minstrelsy" is racially linked is a topic for discussion, but why would you bother to distract the issue. I'd find it helpful if you cited legitimate sources and blogged on the history and rise of minstresly, but I just can't see any reason why you would use the name of this kid --- DRESSED AS UNCLE SAM -- if your purpose is to foster meaningful discussion.
...the pic speaks for itself...if u dress in blackface what are u if not racially insensitive or racist.
there's no libel or slander...what is a lie in the blog? what is the distortion in the blog?
if the people in the pic feel bad they should, they're guilty of being ignorant about the history of dehumanization. if you dress up as a Klansman and I smile next to you, isn't it safe to assume we're not racially progressive?
these pics are all on facebook and myspace i thought it was pretty informative to see that we still have this going on...good job soulution
Well, I find it a little hard to believe the Samuel L. Jackson thing....other than the fact that the dude has darkened his skin, there's nothing that says "Samuel L. Jackson" to me about the pic.
And the Uncle Sam dude aside, blackface simply isn't something that's appropriate. It does nothing but highlight negative stereotypes about Black people, and that's totally indefensible. I realize that a lot of the people who do this on Facebook are college kids and therefore not prone to do things like, you know, think critically, but it wouldn't hurt. It never ceases to astound me how willfully ignorant most college students are. You have the opportunity to take classes that would fill you in on why this kind of thing is racist, regardless of your poorly-articulated intentions, and you don't. Don't plead ignorance when you're simply not taking advantage of the opportunities you've been given.
The bottom line is this: Facebook is a public site. If some blogger can find your picture, so can potential employers and everyone else under the sun. Use your heads about what you post, even if you don't use your heads about what you take part in.
There is no way you people can be serious about this. You want to tell me that this is acceptable...

...but a couple guys can't have some fun on Halloween?
Thats the same racially hypocritical double standard that has been going on for years.
I'll bet you had a good laugh though watching Chappelle reading the news as a white guy, or as the father of the "Niggar Family".
Did you see Robert Downey Jr. in the new Ben Stiller movie, Tropic Thunder? Why dont you post that on here? If you are going to try to make a big deal about this then how about blackface in a major studio movie.
'robert', read the blog jackass.
